These dog biscuits are super easy to make and your dog will absolutely love them (and you)! Remember that every dog is different, so if your dog has any dietary restrictions or allergies, be sure to adjust the recipe accordingly.
Just like chocolate is a sometimes food for us, these biscuits are a sometimes treat for your dog and shouldn't replace a balanced dog diet.
Ingredients
1 ½ cups whole wheat flour
1 cup rolled oats
½ cup peanut butter (make sure it doesn't contain xylitol, which is toxic to dogs)
1 ¼ cups hot water
Method
Preheat oven to 175°C and line a tray with baking paper
In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and rolled oats
Add the peanut butter to the dry mixture. Make sure the peanut butter is at room temperature, as it'll be easier to mix.
Gradually add the hot water to the mixture. Start with about half of the liquid and mix it in. Continue adding liquid in small amounts until the mixture forms a dough that holds together without being too sticky.
On a floured surface, roll out the dough to a thickness of about ¼ inch.
Use cookie cutters to cut out your desired shapes
Place the cut-out shapes on the prepared baking tray
Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
Once baked, remove the biscuits from the oven and let them cool completely on a wire rack.
Store the dog biscuits in an airtight container at room temperature. They should last for a couple of weeks. If you want them to last longer, you can store them in the fridge or freezer.
