We all love a good Spag Bol! But sharing your left over Bolognese with your pup isn't always a good idea. Most recipes include onion and garlic - both big no, no's for dogs. Next time it's pasta night, try this simple and delicious recipe. It's safe for both you and your dog!
Ingredients
500g lean mince meat (beef, chicken or pork)
2 finely grated carrots
1 finely grated zucchini
1 cup low salt and low sugar passata
1 cup low salt beef or chicken broth
1-2 tbsp olive oil
Method
In a frying ban, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
Add the mince meat and cook it thoroughly until it's browned and no longer pink. As it cooks, break it into smaller pieces.
Add the grated carrots and zucchini and cook for a few minutes until softened.
Stir in the passata and low-sodium broth.
Simmer for 10-15 minutes until the vegetables are tender and the sauce thickens slightly.
Cook your pasta of choice according to the package instructions, but don't add any salt.
Once the pasta is cooked, drain it and mix it in with the Bolognese sauce.
Allow the dog friendly spag bol cool before serving.
Serve a portion appropriate for your dog's size and dietary needs.
And serve yourself some too - it's delicious!
